Responsible for overseeing & directing the Engineering Departments of three hotels that encompass 1022 rooms which are managed by Alliance Hospitality Management. Develop, recommend and implement the division’s budget capital expenditure plan, forecasts and objectives consistent with maintaining a first class property and management’s expectations. Develop and implement a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the hotel, the grounds and all of the equipment in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to ensure the safety, convenience and satisfaction of all guests, managers and employees to protect the assets and maintain the property in first class condition. Develop, implement & direct all Emergency programs; ensure all equipment is maintained, conduct inspections & drills, ensure compliance with all codes and regulations, train all employees and maintain accurate records to ensure a safe environment which protects the assets, guests and employees. Develop, implement and manage an energy conservation program for property to minimize expenses. Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed for minimal cost. Supervise the operations of Human Resources within the division to attract, retain and motivate the staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.

Supervised all necessary maintenance and repair work throughout the 321 unit resort property to include the grounds, golf cart barn, Club 19 restaurant, Pelicans restaurant, Reflections pool and the spa. Provided general engineering and safety training to maintenance staff insuring a safe and efficient working environment. Conducted regular inspections on the electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems and ensured their compliance with environmental regulations. Monitored all property Life Safety programs and fire systems and their associated procedures. Coordinated with outside vendors to determine all contract work and capital projects meeting the requirements of the hotel. Prepared and closely monitored the department’s budget for accuracy and expenditure accountability. Coordinated with the various departments and provided training to the subordinates. Maintained control over the inventory/stock of all needed parts to facilitate the quick repair of hotel trouble calls.

Inspected, repaired, and tested fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices. Carefully dismantled extinguishers and examined mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replacing worn or damaged parts as needed. Thoroughly cleaned extinguishers and recharged them with approved materials. Inspected, tested, and repaired systems such as smoke detectors, sprinklers, and dry stand pipe systems, and pull systems. Conducted fire safety inspections. Efficiently maintained fire safety equipment and systems in accordance with applicable fire codes

Served as a technical expert and advisor to the US Navy on gas free engineering practices and program management, hazardous material (HAZMAT) spill response procedures, proper disposal methods in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and OSHA standards.Responsible for supervision of up to four different work centers consisting of twenty two personnel in all aspects of firefighting, shipboard metal fabrication and repairs and machining critical parts pertinent to the Navy’s mission.As a Shipboard Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Defense Specialist, I was responsible for the development and execution of training plans, CBR warfare (WMD) defense counter measures and detection devices (RADIACS).Responsible for the critical maintenance and oversight of various fire suppression systems and life support devices to include HALON 1301, AFFF Generation, Installed CO2, Salt Water Sprinkling, and Portable CO2, PKP and AFFF Extinguishers, SCBA’s, SCBA charging air compressors, Emergency Breathing Air Compressors (EBAC), Emergency Egress Breathing Devices (EEBD) and Search and Rescue (SAR) SCBA’s.Produced daily, weekly, quarterly, & annual reports for multiple shipboard programs to include fire marshal inspections, safety inspections, air quality assurance (SCBA), gas free engineering program and quantitative analysis for AFFF generation systems.Developed long/short term training plans that included daily duty section training, weekly key personnel training, monthly command level training and TYCOM directed training at remote sites. Reviewed lesson plans and tasks on all courses insuring they met the training objectives and were up to date with the fleet directives. Submitted weekly, monthly and quarterly reports up the chain of command for review with recommendations for possible changes on the training courses of instruction due feedback from the students and lessons learned/input from other commands.
