Working as a planner in MTK smart phone business might be one of the toughest production planning jobs in terms of :[1] Mobile product supply nature - High volume and variety : Manage 30+ product famlies for AP, RF, Power management IC with various package types including BGA, Flipchip, QFN, WLCSP, Fanout, in millions of supply chips per month. - Rapid ramp-up but short life cycle : ramp-up plan can be as short as one month while life cycle might be less than half an year from NPI to EOL in that intensive and comprehensive production strategy and inventory control plays crucially[2] High supply chain complexity- Work externally with more than 20 suppliers domestic and overseas from upstream Foundries to downstream assembling/testing houses to ensure capacity and material availability (Probe card, Loadboard, substrate/leaframe, etc.) as well as to monitor production of vendors. [3] Intensive Cross-functional activities :- Work internally with R&D/Process Eng/Testing Eng/Procurement to address production issues and seek for capacity support- Organize and drive ramp-up plan for NPI.
