Currently located in the Bismarck Office, serving as a point of contact for Congressman Kevin Cramer on issues and services related to western North Dakota. Previously was Congressman Cramer's point of contact on Capitol Hill for the U.S. House's Energy and Commerce Committee's Health Subcommittee, as well as being responsible for other issues, including education, welfare, social issues, Cuba/foreign affairs and veterans'​ affairs.

Taught courses on The American Presidency, The History of World War II, America in the 1960s and Organizational Communications and Change Management.

Worked in the areas of public and media relations, including working with staff to develop public, media and social media messages and strategies for clients, and coaching public officials on how to effectively handle media interviews and news conferences. Also wrote news releases and talking points, made media calls to pitch ideas and encourage coverage, and coordinated news conferences, editorial board visits and public relations events.

Provided outreach, marketing support for fundraising campaign for $55 million North Dakota Heritage Center expansion project. Provided support for outreach to legislators, donors, Foundations Trustees and members. Registered lobbyist supporting the State Historical Society of North Dakota efforts and goals with the North Dakota Legislative Assembly. Maintained and developed the Foundation website.

Worked as a liaison with Congressman Rick Berg’s Washington, D.C., staff on federal and state issues impacting western North Dakota, including water and energy concerns, and helped shape key messages for Congressman Berg in speeches and letters delivered at conferences and other activities and events.

Established a new agency division at the State Historical Society of North Dakota, supervising a staff of six and implementing the Communications and Education Division’s strategic long-range work plan which included building the budget, coordinating the education program, marketing the agency’s programs and activities, writing and editing the agency’s news releases, quarterly newsletter and annual report, handling media relations, and coordinating projects with other state agencies.Created the marketing and media relations program at the State Historical Society of North Dakota, which did not exist when I began employment in 1995. Responsible for establishing and building this critical function, which has grown to include more than $350,000 a year in earned media coverage.
