Geneticist and bioinformatician with a focus on psychiatric disorders and feeding/nausea.Primary area of research is single cell transcriptomics, primarily in brain tissue, using the 10x Genomics platform and the programming language R. Bioinformatics lead on multiple projects using these techniques, including phenotyping of brainstem regions related to feeding and nausea, identification of cell type-specific gene expression changes in rats following morphine self-administration, and the transcriptomic effects of seizures on the mouse hippocampus.Postdoctoral fellowship focused on pharmacogenomics of opioid use disorder and identification of rare genetic variants in bipolar disorder using next-generation sequencing. Graduate level work included the use of mouse models to study genetic loci affecting intestinal tumorigenesis and the characterization of a novel transcription factor isoform in mice and human tissue.
