 Responsible for the preparation and filing of SEC Forms 10-Q and 10-K for XL Group plc., including the consolidated financial statements, notes to financial statements, and management discussion & analysis. Work with mid-level and senior executives to gather relevant data and commentary required for SEC filings. Also responsible for the coordination of incoming internal and external audit requests. Responsible for the determination and implementation of XBRL tags within SEC reports. Responsible SEC Accounting policy, including research of existing guidance for new company transactions, as well as maintaining update memorandums regarding new guidance applicable to the group. Prepare script for earnings calls for Chief Financial Officer, and assist in the review of the quarterly earnings press releases. Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance within assigned work areas. Enterprise Enablement project – Special project purposed to transform the entity’s financial accounting and reporting systems to enable users to make more informed decision. Developed and maintained process documentation standards and framework, including formalized change controls to prevent framework erosion, to ensure standardization under the new system and adherence to governing principles across various work areas.

  Oversaw filing of seven property and casualty insurance annual and quarterly regulatory statements. Oversaw direct reports’ preparation of balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, statement of surplus (equity), underwriting and loss development exhibits for all companies.  Directly prepared the notes to the financial statements for all companies, as well as the Combined Annual Statement and Combined Audited Financial Statements, including the relevant elimination entries, consolidation worksheets and coordination of incoming audit requests. Worked directly with US segment personnel gathering data for corporate reporting, which included the maintenance of a financial database, as well as analytical reviews of submitted data. Reviewed journal entries, prepared by direct reports, for transactions related to the US insurance companies. Responsible for Statutory Accounting policy, including research of existing guidance for new company transactions, as well as maintaining update memorandums regarding new guidance applicable to the group. Hired in 2007 as Senior Accountant, promoted to Supervisor in 2011.

 Reviewed and prepared income statement account analysis and monthly journal entries, including monthly comprehensive comparisons of actual results to budget/forecast. Reviewed and prepared balance sheet account analysis, monthly journal entries and sales tax returns. Reviewed Payment Authorization forms to ensure proper accounting treatment and business unit approvals.

 Planned and performed financial statement audits and tests of internal controls, including SEC filings on Forms 10-Q and 10-K, gaining exposure to a variety of industries. Supervised staff accountants on the firm audit approach and accounting issues, and reviewed the work of staff accountants. Interviewed mid-level to senior executives within clients to obtain detailed understanding of the client’s business operations. Performed statistical sampling, analytical reviews of financial statements, and substantive analytical and detail tests of income statement and balance sheet accounts.
