My primary job duty is to investigate and respond to public requests concerning the safety and mobility of the state and US highways and interstates in the district. Examples of investigations and other tasks I've completed include signal warrant analyses, crash data summaries, speed limit studies, sight distance measurements, left turn arrow studies, and signage and pavement marking evaluations (regulatory, warning, directional, etc). I also do some plan review, particularly when signage, pavement markings, or traffic signals are involved.

I also supervise and delegate some tasks to a field investigator.

I was a Research Assistant for Darcy Bullock with the Joint Transportation Research Program. I was the lead author on a paper that has been accepted for publication in the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board. The paper introduces and demonstrates graphical performance measures that identify opportunities for traffic signal timing adjustments. Other research projects I worked on include the following: using time-lapse cameras to document construction activities, using GPS receivers and Bluetooth devices to calculate travel times, and using wireless magnetometers to measure gap acceptance at a roundabout.
