The DEC Marketing Division of Hamilton/Avnet (now known as Avnet Technology Solutions) was tasked with creating the first small office networked computer system for sale to the end user with a target price of under $10,000.00.With a team of four people, we built and delivered our solution around a Digital Equipment Corporation MicroVAX 2000, four terminals (or four DECnet cards to be plugged into an IBM PC), and a laser printer. This cutting edge solution was bundled with Multi-User software that included Lotus 123, Wordstar, dBase and something that was not used much, but a custom email program.
