This Research Project & Leadership Course is an extra program (6 ECT) offered to a selected group of Dutch students and Tanzanian students by the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam / Mzumbe University. The group of students was hired for a research by two clients, the Medical Credit Fund (subsidiary of PharmAccess, a Dutch non-profit health investment fund that supports private healthcare facilities in Africa) and Performation (a Dutch company that provide patient level costing and benchmarking products that improve processes and outcomes for successful hospital productivity). The main aim of the research is to improve the understanding in the healthcare sector in Tanzania. 14 healthcare facilities have been visited during only a 3 week case study in the Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and Tanga. With the results of this research project, health facilities can improve their business and increase healthcare available to the Tanzanian population.
