Rick Harris is a partner of Lamson Dugan and Murray. He has 30 years of courtroom experience defending physicians, hospitals and other health care providers in medical malpractice claims. Rick began his career at Lamson Dugan and Murray before returning to Des Moines in 2005. In 2021, Rick rejoined Lamson Dugan and Murray’s Des Moines office. In 2023 he became part of Lamson Dugan and Murray’s Practice Management Committee. Rick represents physicians, nurses, hospitals, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other licensed medical professionals before juries and state agencies including The Iowa Boards of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Rick has tried jury cases in many Iowa courts including 21 jury trials in Polk County, 5 jury trials in Cerro Gordo, 3 jury trials in Pottawattamie as well as jury trials in the following Iowa counties: Linn, Carroll, Poweshiek, Marion, Shelby, Mahaska, Decatur, Wapello, Monona, Woodbury, Allamakee, Kossuth, Clay and where he grew up in Greene County.Away from work, Rick enjoys spending time with his family, Creighton basketball, reading and running with his dogs. Rick now lives in West Des Moines with his spouse, Jill, their four kids, and two awesome Weimaraners.
