At 15 I started a small house painting venture with my school friend and we suddenly became overwhelmed with the amount of opportunities. As a result we each paid cash for our first car 1 month before we could legally drive. This small venture built the ground work for what was to become the foundation for my future. Hard work, determination, positivity, a no matter what attitude, networking, sales, customer service and above all the determination to succeed and overcome any obstacle. In 1987 I partnered and opened a travel office in some sub-divided space I had in the video store I owned. I soon understood that my new business partner in travel wasn’t as eager to succeed and after 6 months I inherited the business. Luckily, I had hired a fantastic manager and we began to grow with my role being business development and marketing. In 1989 our small office was awarded as the top producing independent travel agency in Northern Alberta and Northwest Territories for Canadian Holidays. In 1992 I merged with another small independent travel agency and we later joined the UNIGLOBE Travel franchise. In 1998 I divested my interests in the travel business and returned to school. I attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology for two years and completed the Computer Systems Technology program. In 2000 I returned to the travel industry as a partner with UNIGLOBE Geo Travel. In addition to many achievements and accolades, in 2016 our team was awarded as the highest volume agency within the UNIGLOBE travel franchise world.
