In my retirement I am very much enjoying my part-time role as Adjunct Professor of Law at UNC School of Law, where I lead a course entitled, "Exploring the Role of In-House Counsel" each fall. I also recently completed serving on the school's Capital Campaign Steering Committee, having served on the Alumni Advisory Board and Advancement Committee.I am blessed to continue to pursue my passions for youth and my faith at Myers Park UMC in Charlotte, where I was a youth ministry volunteer for two decades. I have taught high school Sunday School, have led our "Senior Experience" program for high school seniors, and have been a leader for a high school small group. Since 2019, I’ve chaired our Building Committee, as we are in the midst of finalizing the construction of an 83,000 sf, multi-purpose facility near the corner of Queens and Providence, opening in April 2024. A significant portion of the building will include all-new youth facilities.I have loved volunteering for several years coaching college scholarship nominees preparing for the interview process. And I make sure to spend considerable time on my other passions--UNC sports, golf, good friends, and, especially, my family (wife Saundra, son Jack, daughters Allison and Anna, daughter-in law Liz, son-in-law Alex, the four greatest grandsons in the world, Miller (8), Reeder (6), James (3) and Teddy (3), and our two newest additions, our precious granddaughters Layne (born July 13, 2023) and Eliza (born April 27, 2024). I began my legal career in 1983 as an associate and later a shareholder at Robinson Bradshaw in Charlotte. In 1989, I began a 30-year in-house career, serving in various roles, including SVP and General Counsel, at United Dominion Industries (1989-2001) and Enpro (2002-2017), two diversified industrial NYSE public companies headquartered in Charlotte.I have been very fortunate to be part of wonderful teams throughout my professional career and in my volunteer opportunities.
