Electrical engineer (RPEQ) specialising in the design of process control and automation systems including safety instrumented systems. The key personal skills that I try to maintain focus on address attention to engineering detail, effective verbal and written communications, and sound technical documentation.I am also trained and certified in Functional Safety Management for process plants over the full safety lifecycle of AS / IEC 61508 and 61511, having passed the examinations to become qualified as a Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE).In correlation with my interest in functional safety, I have a strong interest in engineering risk and liability management and in the practical application of methodologies to promote safety in design. A key part of this is ensuring that engineering team members understand the limits of their training and competencies, and work always within those limits.I have over 40 years of diverse engineering experience in a number of industries, having worked at various times for plant owners, EPCMs, control system vendors and system integrators. My roles have included engineering design, electronic equipment test, industrial site commissioning, quality management system implementation, engineering team leader, project manager and functional safety management lead.
