- Provide system protection engineering support/assistance for member systems, Generation and Transmission Operations, and Transmission Planning.- Compile protective relay settings as required for new transmission / distribution substations and upgrades.- Modify existing relay settings as required to re-establish proper coordination.- Perform area coordination studies for foreign utility interties and system facilities upgrades.- Perform analysis of system disturbances and mis-operations to determine proper operation of the protection scheme.- Provide NERC and SERC compliance support related to generation and transmission system protection.- Design electrical one-line, three line, relaying schematics, cabling requirements and control house layout drawings for transmission and distribution facilities.- Coordinate, with consultant or internal technicians, system field testing and manage the installation of transmission facility replacements and upgrades.- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Neighboring Utility, or Member System to complete tasks or for system protection concerns.- Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and contracts when needed.- Develop bidding documents, evaluate, and establish low bidder on substation equipment.

Responsibilities include:- Substation design, construction, and project management for assigned projects, 69kV through 345kV.- Design and implementation of protection controls for equipment in 69kV through 345kV substations.- Procurement and purchasing of all materials and equipment related to the substation project.
