• Surety Underwriter - working as part of a team in order to achieve specific annual targets involving: Written Premium, Earned Premium, Loss Ratio, Cost Ratio, Portfolio Diversification, Facility Utilisation, Cross Selling and Overall Bond Portfolio Quality.• Primarily personally responsible for providing a facility service to an expanding bonding portfolio of over 100 brokered and direct clients of varying size. Duties include; - - Deciding facility limits and obtaining group approval for limits in excess of my individual authority.- Negotiating premium ratings.- Risk monitoring of the portfolio ranging from meetings with CFOs and FDs of major plcs to reviewing the management accounts of SME companies. - Reviewing and negotiating bond wordings and Indemnity documentation. - Entertaining current or potential high income generating clients. - Reviewing circa 200 new enquiries per year, providing competitive terms for enquiries which meet our underwriting criteria whilst politely declining or providing stringent terms against weaker enquiries to ensure that brokers keep providing EH with new business opportunities.• Key member of the team developing and implementing a plan to accelerate commercial effectiveness by diversification of the bonding portfolio, developing new distribution channels and new products with direct marketing and cross selling with the overall aim of doubling premium income within three years.• Individually responsible for producing detailed KPI statistics on a monthly basis which are provided to the Head of Bonding, UK BU and Group.• Responsible for arranging the monthly underwriting strategy meeting, establishing the agenda and circulating minutes following the meeting.

• Providing an efficient and effective risk service to a portfolio of Euler Hermes Group customers. • Monitoring over 3,000 companies. Responsible for sourcing, interpreting and providing reports on the financial, economic, commercial and political status of companies.• Self sourcing and evaluating the management accounts of companies within my area to allow increased credit cover on worthy companies and to justify reducing cover on poor performing companies. Resulting in increased turnover and renewal rates for Euler Hermes UK whilst reducing claims.• Responsible for conducting meetings with the senior management of ‘high risk’ companies. Responsible for producing reports based on these meetings within pre agreed deadlines which critically evaluate the likely hood of the visited company failing. • Liaising with multiple areas of the business internally, policy holders and buyers (policy holder’s customers) to ensure that our customers received the most comprehensive credit management solutions possible.
