Founded by Rick Schafer in 2010 to meet the growing demand for quality photographic products for corporate brand extension, Protégé Publishing has grown rapidly by producing calendars, books and other related products that tell the client’s story and help position the client to maximize their brand awareness. Protégé’s clients include The Tire Factory, The Reserve Vineyard & Golf Club, and Truitt Bros. Protégé was also selected by Costco Inc. to produce a line of wall appointment calendars for almost half of the states in the USA as an annual project.

Founded by professional photographer Rick Schafer in 1995, Rick Schafer Photography LLC provides full-service professional photography for commercial advertising, editorial, stock, décor, and educational needs. Clients include the hospitality industry, manufacturing, the food industry, and airlines among others. His assignment work has appeared in annual reports, advertising campaigns, product packaging, books, and many other venues. Additionally, Rick Schafer teaches photography in his Natural Light Photography Workshops that he conducts annually throughout Oregon.

The Ray Atkeson Photo Archive, one of the largest, privately owned photographic archives of the western United States, has been managed by its Director, Rick Schafer since 1995.  Prior to Ray’s passing in 1990, Rick Schafer was Ray’s stepson and protégé, having studied photography under Ray for over 15 years.  All images are available in digital format upon request.  While the company is working towards having the entire archive completely digitized, most of the important images are currently digitized.  Each image is individually protected by United States copyright law and all use or reproduction of the images must have the express written consent of Rick Schafer Photography, LLC.The archive contains over 250,000 images made with large-format cameras and film, and spans eight decades (80 years) of creative work of Mr.Ray Atkeson from the late 1920s to the early 1990s. This is the life-work of one artist-photographer, compelled to document both his time and place in this world, including the natural surroundings and the events that he witnessed during these many decades of his life.Ray Atkeson’s talent and artistic genius was recognized by all the major publishing venues of his time. His work was published in major eastern newspaper rotogravure color inserts, national magazines including Life magazine among others. Beginning in 1968, his work was immortalized in over a dozen photographic books from OREGON to WIND ON THE WAVES, crossing the decades from 1969 to 1990. In 1986, he received one of his greatest honors when he was named Photographer Laureate of Oregon, an honor bestowed upon him by then Governor Goldschmidt.
