For 36 years, I've been blessed to do exactly what I love, bringing live music to people for any number of occasions - festivals, corporate events, casinos, club dates, weddings, private parties - even funerals. I launched The Sun Messengers - a nine piece, horn-driven, all occasion band that has won numerous awards over the last 34 years, including the Distinguished Achievement Award at the Detroit Music Awards.My other musical interests have led me to launch The Motor City Street Band - a New Orleans style brass-band; The Sun Sounds Orchestra - a thirteen piece, world music big band; and Africassette Records and Tapes - a record label and mail order business specializing in African and Latin music.As an avid researcher and collector of all things Duke Ellington, I am working to establish a college-level course to introduce a new generation to the works of this master musician.
