Heading the group technical department, (18 people) mainly focussing on developing strategies, policies and procedures for maintenance and repair of the fleet, ( approx. 200 tugs, barges, pilot boats etc.) with the aim to increase uptime and reliability, while at the same time reducing the amount of repair periods within a special survey cycle and reducing cost. Part of the group technical department is a number of TSI’s which are supporting the region technical departments with preparation and executions of dockings, damage repairs and modifications. Functionally heading 5 regional technical managers, which in turn, together with their staff, are responsible for the day to day maintenance and repair of all vessels in the fleet.Providing technical support to all regional technical managers and TSI’s within the company.Reporting directly to the CTO.

Managing the departments which are supporting, monitoring and controlling the daily operation of the trading vessels, as well as the new building department which is monitoring and controlling the newbuilding programme in China of 12 new chemical tankers in the 4000-7500 ton dwt. range.

The first task at Fairmount Marine B.V. was to manage the engineering and conversion of the BOA barges 19 and 20 into self propelled semi submersible heavy lift vessels Fjord and Fjell. A complicated task due to the fact that many different parties with different agenda's were involved.The second task was to set up a fleet management department from scratch, in order to transform Fairmount Marine B.V. from a service providing company into a ship owning company with its own commercial-, fleet management- and husbanding departments.Finally 7 vessels where fully managed from Fairmount Marine's offices, 5 tugs with more than 200 tons BP each, 1 diving support/accommodation vessel with 4 point mooring system, and 1 semi-submersible barge with a lifting capacity of 50.000 tons dwt. all trading world wide.Played a crucial role in an arbitration case with at stake an amount of € 53 million.

Responsible for the building activities at the yards in Europe, 4 heavy lift vessels, 2 lenghtened heavy lift vessels, and 4 container vessels. Building activities took place at yards in Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and at 2 sites in the Netherlands.Involved in the development of new heavy lift vessels.

Managing the fleet management department. This department supported, monitored and controlled the 12 dedicated heavy lift vessels which were trading world wide.The department was also responsible for the development and building of new vessels. During this employment the Jumbo G, H and J type vessels (total 7 pcs) were developed, designed and built.

Technical suprintendent for a fleet of world wide trading full management vessels, comprising passenger ships, LPG tankers, container ships and multi purpose vessels. Involved in the sale and purchase of vessels.

Technical superintendent for the offshore vessels "Trollness" and "Rocky Giant". "Trollness" was engaged in rock dumping on sub sea pipelines, "Rocky Giant" in rock dumping and cable laying.

Technical superintendent for a fleet of 12 LPG tankers owned by German, Norwegian and Scottish owners, all trading within the "Unigas" pool.

Technical inspector for new building, upgrading/modification, repair and maintenance of gas- and oil burning boiler- and co-generation plants, including the commissioning of new- and/or upgraded plants in various countries.

2nd engineer officer onboard the 40000 ton dwt stainless steel chemical tankers in the JO fleet, trading world wide.

Served in several ranks as marine engineer onboard single- and twin screw multipurpose and full container vessels.Acted during a period of 9 months as commissioning/test engineer in the final construction phase of the walking cutter dredger platform "Simon Stevin".Acted as supervisor during the re-engining of the twin srew container vessel "Nedlloyd Dejima" in Japan.
