Rick was born and raised as a 5th generation farmer in Rockford, IA where he still resides to this day with his wife Amy. College was not a path he wanted to pursue so he settled in on the family farm. He was approached by a Case IH dealer in Greene, IA (McRoberts Implement, now McRoberts Red Power) to be a part time salesman. He worked there for 8 years while he was also approached by Pioneer Seeds to be an Independent Sales Rep. He sold seed for 14 years while starting his own independent chemical retail facility known as Willert Agri Sales Inc. In that time he sold seed, custom applied chemical, treated seed and was a chemical retailer for Syngenta and Dupont and also a small satellite for Helena Agri Enterprises. His love for farming never lessened so he decided to part ways with Pioneer and the chemical retail business. He purchased a couple trucks and started a low key grain, fertilizer and end user product trucking business. His dad, David, is still active on the farm. Rick now, only farms and is heavily engrossed in becoming the highest corn and soybean yielder in the state of Iowa using no-till and strip-till innovations on his farming operation. He is always looking for relationships and ideas to help grow his love in farming. Rick now hosts a new podcast called Farmer Sense with his friend, Andrew Focht. Their goal is to help share farming ideas with farmers.
