As a Platform Product Manager, I am the Product Manager/Owner of our distributed platform.It is within my responsibilities to ensure that our platform teams have clarity in what their goals are in the short term. I ensure this by continuously working with our CIO to discuss and align on what deliverables the team should be focusing on.I play an active role in supporting our CIO with managing all the expectations, requests, and requirements from the many stakeholders of our platform, collaborating with them to set mid-term objectives and long-term strategies.Our teams turn to me for clarity and purpose and have expectations on me to manage requests coming our way from the rest of our organization. It is essential for me to be there for our teams and support them so that they can focus on what they do best.Major responsibilities:• Managing expectations on our platform.• Identifying opportunities and pain points for the work we put on the platform. • Understanding and assessing the value of requests to our teams.• Taking the lead in prioritizing our team's work.• Securing clear requirements for our teams.• Working actively with our teams to ensure empowerment.• Defining boundaries between our teams and our target groups/customers. Ensure they are clear and respected.• Providing fast feedback regarding current alignments and priorities, from the platform to our stakeholders.• Communicating the platform processes to others.• Defining our product and our platform capabilities.The Platform Product Manager role didn't always have these responsibilities, it started off as a role that had the opportunity to manage the development of our platform in collaboration with a team that was implemented to enable our engineers to take wise decisions in building our new platform that has been shipped in all of our expansion markets.This role also included planning with and facilitating for, our market teams to ensure deliverables using scrum methodologies.

My role in the team was at first to deliver high quality frontend code with React and Angularjs which passed numerous tests and reviews. But as I got more experienced with the product and the tech stack, I took on a more diverse role as a fullstack developer and started to develop advanced features in backend with PHP/MySQL.
