Engineering ManagementSegment Jun 2016 - Jul 2017San Francisco, Ca, UsI was our first senior engineering hire with proven experience in always-on, Internet-scale infrastructure. To scale the existing infrastructure efforts, I led the creation of the Foundation and SRE teams. Supported by a fantastic recruiting apparatus, I hired our first SREs. I set in motion initiatives to revamp many critical pieces of of infrastructure: adoption of Kafka, a rebuild of our deduplication system, an enterprise-grade Warehouses architecture. When the engineering team became a company-level priority, I was part of the team that built our engineering brand into what it is today. When the board recognized gross margin as an existential threat, I led an effort that in one quarter reduced our hosting costs by over $1M/year and scaling.
