As the manager of web development at Bizrate, I work to elevate standards, employ industry best practices, and help my team architect the right solution for several web properties. Part of my work involves helping my direct reports grow as developers and learn to creatively problem solve the obstacles that arise given the myriad of devices and browsers that our sites need to support. Much of my day is spent consulting on the projects that junior and mid-level full-stack web developers on my team are responsible for. I also coordinate with the product and project management teams to determine the requirements and logistics for stories ranging from basic cosmetic enhancements to drastic overhauls and refactoring entire sites. I also meet with design and business development resources to technically vet proposed executions and provide UI and UX suggestions based on my 8 years of experience conceptualizing and building user interfaces and web applications.

As a full-stack web developer at Bizrate, I build and maintain a client portal built on Node and React. The front end leverages the React Context API for complicated state management. I also create new and maintain existing WordPress sites for the marketing and panel teams, including developing custom themes from scratch with advanced admin controls for non-technical users. In addition, I build internal tools to increase efficiency, eliminate pain points, and mitigate the potential for human error in executing common tasks. In an effort to help others reach the next level in their careers and to share my experience, I mentor junior front end developers and more senior software engineers that come from a Java background, with the objective of 100% adoption of high standards and helping others transition to meet the evolving demands of the team and the products we work on. I also help to evaluate product specs and contribute to process optimization and discussion aimed at establishing and maintaining UI best practices and increased logistical efficiency.

As a senior developer at Giantsource, I contributed to the architecture of data solutions to problems relating to complex media workflows, including product definition, database architecture, API development and optimization, and building an intuitive UI to tie it all together.

Specializing in object-oriented web applications, my work at GiantSource includes building new and optimizing existing UI workflows, scoping out new products, and acting as a client liaison/project manager. Past projects include advanced custom wordpress sites, Volusion theme development, and jQuery plugin authoring.

As Director of Production, I oversee the day to day operations of one of the core teams of the MySpace Studio organization. In addition to managing a team of producers, designers, and developers, I also work with several internal teams to generate and evaluate program concepts that use the latest tools and technologies available in a strategic way that engages users and helps the advertiser reach its objectives. Every day, I am also tasked with applying the knowledge of the effective use of social tools that I've accrued over the last 2+ years and offer creative solutions to enhance and optimize campaigns.

After a company-wide re-org, I was promoted to Production Manager of the former Creative Services team and helped maintain focus and morale as the company explored variations of the identity it wanted to possess and the direction in which it wanted to proceed. With a skeleton crew, my team dug deep and successfully fulfilled approximately $40MM in campaigns with 25% of the resources previously available to us.

When I joined the Marketing Design team at MySpace, I found myself among incredibly talented designers and developers who were in dire need for some structure to their work days. After collaborating with my team and other internal groups we worked with, I created a unique system to manage the day to day logistics of web design and development. As the volume of work grew, so did our team. Thankfully, the systems put in place at that time were scalable, allowing for us to be nimble and agile as priorities constantly shifted.

Analyzed the quality of sponsored links and ad-to-content relevance. Contributed to the development of an overall subject taxonomy to organize ads. Enhanced the end user experience by optimizing content and sponsored offers.

Act as a liaison between clients, artists, and printing houses and back up the Production Manager as needed. Track and manage incoming jobs, physical and digital deliverables, update art portfolio on danielclark.com, and assist in photo shoots and other unique needs of individual clients/projects.
