Responsible for driving change in Harbor Freight’s technology environment to position the company for planned growth of over 400%. Harbor Freight currently has over 400 retail locations, 2 million sq/ft. of distribution center space and corporate offices in California and Shanghai, China. In my role I am accountable for all personnel responsible for network, server, storage, database, production control and help desk. The infrastructure group hosts and supports technology for all lines of business including; supply chain, retail, ecommerce, inventory, finance, category management, human resources and global sourcing.Led the technology effort to build and move to a new corporate headquarters in Calabasas including a 1,200 sq/ft. data center. Modernized Harbor Freight’s wireless networks in all legacy distribution centers and led the technology effort to commission a new 1 million sq/ft. west coast distribution center in Moreno Valley, Ca. Implemented all necessary technology in support of new warehouse management, point of sale and ERP systems.Implemented changes in our retail help desk to improve call handling from over 20% to 5% abandon call abandonment. Wait time for an agent was reduced to an average of 95% calls answered in under 90 seconds. Harbor Freight’s retail help desk receives approximately 10,000 calls/month.Replaced legacy satellite technology in 400 retail store locations with T-1’s in advance of the rollout of a new point of sale system. Replaced a legacy ecommerce site with a modern, cloud hosted site using LAMP technology.

Provide leadership and strategic vision for Countrywide’s core data centers and associated technologies, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to provide the necessary capacities in support of the corporate strategy, exceeding client expectations by architecting, deploying and managing state of the art data center technologies delivered with the optimal balance of cost and expediency and ensuring maximum availability for the company’s core application infrastructure.Managed a staff of 200 FTE in 3 states and budget of $100mm.Established a comprehensive virtualization strategy and led the program to establish a robust VMware infrastructure in each of CFC’s core data centers, resulting in the conversion of 1700 servers to virtual machines and program savings in excess of $20mm over 18 mos.Led the team through organizational changes to align by function, rather than geography, resulting in the capitalization on specialized skills that, prior to the re-org, were fulfilling a blended role of operations and engineering.Supported the commissioning of 2 new 50,000 sq/ft data center facilities in Plano, TX and Chandler, AZ.Successfully managed the migration of a 15,000sq/ft data center in Rosemead, Ca., to a facility in Chandler Az.Responsible for negotiations with a major storage vendor, reducing contract prices by 30% against a $20mm annual spend, and conversion of software license to usage based reducing license expense by 20% or $1.2mm.Provided justification for and led the creation of a dedicated capacity management team aligned with ITIL best practices to ensure that infrastructure levels were appropriately maintained in support of business strategy.Championed several technology initiatives focused on increased efficiency, such as: blade technology, disk based backup and NAS, resulting in savings of $10mm.Consolidated iSeries systems, resulting in a reduction of $1m in annual op-ex against a $1mm capital investment.

Through subordinate managers, manage a staff of 53 and an annual operating budget of $25mm.
