Rick is a registered design architect (Queensland) with over 15 years of professional experience working on designs for numerous sports facilities in Australia and throughout Asia. Rick’s love for sports architecture began while working for a previous employer where he fulfilled active roles in designing stadiums, arenas and COEX buildings. During this period he also led numerous design competitions for international projects.Since joining RWA, Rick has been instrumental for multiple key projects including Kia Arena (Melbourne Park Stage 3 Masterplan), Sunshine Coast Stadium Expansion, Casey Demons AFLW upgrades, Eagle Farm Racecourse Upgrades, University of Queensland Fitness and Wellness Centre, St Kilda TAF Masterplan, etc.Being bilingual in English and Chinese has allowed Rick to work collaboratively throughout Asia, developing skills in project coordination, management and leadership. Rick’s creative ability is enhanced by his presentation and 3D skills that ensure design intent is effectively communicated. He has the unique ability to produce simple graphics to convey complex problems and solutions. Rick has particular interest in urban design and art. He believes architecture has civic role and responsibility to enhance our living environment, and there is always a space for experiments, new perspectives, and originality in its commercial operation.
