J.T. Turner Construction (JTTC) is an award winning general contractor based in Savannah, Georgia. The company specializes in custom residential, restoration, commercial construction, renovation and remodeling, and insurance restoration resulting from fire and water damage. Positively influenced owner to hire me as a consultant to create its Strategic Sustainability Plan and assist with its implementation.♦ Created the JT Turner Strategic Sustainability Plan to demonstrate the business case for reducing GHG emissions and effectively used mt CO2e as a key performance indicator to increase profits.♦ Collected data calculated companies mt CO2e for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions (GHG Inventory) to establish baseline data for the company’s first GHG Inventory.♦ Developed and researched different options regarding hauling JTTCs construction waste to the landfill vs. a construction waste recycling facility to effectively validate that it could reduce its operational expenses by switching to a new waste hauler, and sending its construction waste to a recycling facility instead of the landfill.♦ Performed a Cash Flow Break Even Analysis for installing a solar PV system showing a break even at year 4 and a minimum 25 year utility savings, which over that period would have eliminated 1,898 tons of GHG emissions.♦ Analyzed JTTCs water usage and created baselines to determine where JTTCs water usage “hotspots” were and developed a plan to conserve water with little investment and immediate results.

Coastal BioFuels was formed in 2009 and is committed to producing high quality ASTM spec biodiesel. Coastal BioFuels is proud to be the first commercial scale biodiesel production facility in Savannah, GA.♦ Produced the Coastal Biofuel Sustainability Action Plan outlining the details and roadmap for reducing GHG emissions by way of establishing baselines and measuring progress in regard to energy efficiency, water conservation and waste minimization.♦ Developed the company’s first GHG Inventory by collecting data and calculating both Scope 1 & 2 emissions and becoming one of the first companies in Savannah to submit its GHG emission to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).♦ Achieved the attainment of Bronze-Level Membership status from the Partnership forSustainable Georgia.♦ Insured all procedures and processes are implemented and maintained a safe working environment while securing the highest quality product possible. ♦ Provided verification that all raw material specifications were met, including, but not limited to: Feedstock and Process Chemicals.♦ Bench tested all batches prior to being assigned to a Batch Control Form.♦ Successfully recorded and tracked all in-process sampling point results, which enabled company to meet ASTM D6751 standard for biodiesel.♦ Insured all Quality Assurance, Hazmat; Environment Regulation and Safety Manuals were current and accessible while working with the General Manager in producing the highest level of quality product possible without adversely effecting profitability.

♦ Inspected watercraft for invasive species♦ Assisted biologists in surveying fish populations and habitats in streams and lakes with a variety of gear including different types of nets and electrofishing equipment.♦ Conducted habitat and angler surveys, assisted with tagging and radio telemetry projects, tested water quality, surveyed mollusks and snails, entered data into databases and performed routine maintenance on equipment.

Lights Off! aired every first and third Tuesday from 3:00PM – 3:30PM on Jackson Hole Community Radio, KHOL 89.1FM. The show was part of the Teton Area 10×10 initiative, whose goal was to reduce energy use 10% by December 31, 2010. Brian Tanabe, Steve Michel, Peter Keenan and I interviewed local green experts and discussed topics related to sustainability.

I was the host and creator of my own sustainability show on the local volunteer radio station, 89.1 KHOL, called "Simply Sustainable" which is a 5-minute guide to living simpler, and more sustainable lives.
