Following graduation from Lawrence University in 1965, I worked for 19 years at Thilmany Pulp and Paper, a manufacturer of lightweight specialty kraft papers and converted products. Began career in sales and, over time, promoted to District Sales Manager, Product Manager, and ultimately Business Manager. In 1984 I had the very good fortune of being recruited to succeed the soon-to-be-retired President of Laminations.During my tenure at Laminations, the business has grown from a single location in Wisconsin to a national network of five manufacturing plants and a number two market share position in the edge protector market segment. Starting in 1995, Laminations became wholly-owned by Great Northern Corporation (previously GNC was one of two founding, joint-venture partners of Laminations). Due to that new alliance, I also became responsible for overseeing Great Northern's Rollguard business. Great Northern was the originator of and currently is the market share leader for molded and fabricated roll cradles used to protect a variety of cylindrical products during shipment and storage.Specialties: Strategic alignment, greenfield plant justification and expansion, hiring very talented staff, nurturing a very positive business culture
