For Rick, it’s always been about being creative. As an accomplished photographer, musician and artist he was directing super 8 movies as a kid, publishing original cartoons in high school and performing live at coffee houses in college… and he was just getting started.For more than 25 years, that range of talents has been a driving force in both his personal life and successful broadcasting career.At KPIX in San Francisco, Rick won numerous industry awards for promotion of news and the world champion San Francisco 49’ers and Oakland A’s. At WGN-TV Chicago, Rick won a national Emmy award for his AIDS awareness PSA featuring Michael Jordan and was responsible for image, topical and sales promotion for the Chicago Bulls during their championship run. As Creative Services Director at WGN, he coordinated the promotion and marketing of both the local TV station and the national superstation during an important period of audience growth.Most recently Rick served as VP Creative Services and Digital Media for Tribune Broadcasting, leading the promotion and marketing efforts of more than 20 major market TV stations and their web sites. He also worked closely with top Hollywood syndicators and networks to deliver strong creative resulting in successful program launches across the Tribune station group.Rick also thrives on learning new technologies and extending his creative execution to new platforms. During his career he moved seamlessly through edit systems from CMX to Final Cut, taught himself to shoot film for high-end productions, pushed for Tribune’s entry into SMS mobile promotions and personally built the very first Tribune Broadcasting web site.Rick has a Masters Degree from The Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, produces a daily blog about creativity in life and has received countless industry awards including multiple regional Emmy, Telly and Promax awards. He happily lives in Natick with his wife and family.
