Training in hydrometeo forecasts including public, aviation, fire weather, flood, and marine forecasts products. Participate in the watch/warning program and assist in issuing severe weather and flood related products. Provide public service and other briefings as required. Interpret WSD-88D products and provide oversight and operate radar to ascertain the types of echoes, and associated hydrometeo parameters including macroscale, mesoscale, and microscale features. Participate in the obs program, including upper air and surface programs. Operate AWIPS and other communication systems to interpret and analyze model and other data sets. Prepare various hydrometeo obs, and assist with preparation of forecasts, and warning products for distribution to customers and other users. Operate NOAA Weather Radio and other dissemination systems. Participate and lead outreach events, office tours and visitations. Teach classes on general weather topics and meteorological related material to local schools and child development groups, as well as for the Boy Scouts of America’s Weather Merit Badge. Routinely brief and provide IDSS to core and local partners on developing situations, future and past events. Trained and supervised a summer college student volunteer on daily shift duties for public service, including observations, software, radar and the upper air program. Trained on GOES-R, Radar Applications, Warning Operations for Severe, Core, and Flash Flooding, Tropical Operations, Hazard Creation and Simplification, NOAA IT Security, Active Shooter, No Fear Act and BMH transmitter controls through AWIPS. Cover severe weather and tropical events, including extra shifts or 12 hour shifts when needed. Provided extra balloon releases and helped work radar for tropical ops. Rotating shift work, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Provide backup to other regional WFOs, including all hydrometeo products and services.
