Design Studio + Lighting Design Instructor- Students utilize client research to develop project designs- Teach the importance of collaboration between architects, engineers, and related disciplines- Discuss the design process and the responsibilities for successfully completing a project- Teach craft, modeling, material selection and 2D / 3D drawing techniques to reinforce designs- Teach residential and commercial lighting systems and how to integrate into projects- Students create functional, code compliant and aesthetically creative lighting solutions- Principles of lighting and color theory are integrated into the course- Practical and technical lighting solutions are considered and researched for projects- Students study light phenomenology / psychology and incorporate into designs- Daylighting and energy conservation techniques are studied and researched- Emphasis on meeting specific and beneficial needs for the client are reinforced- Students are required to create light maps, RCPs, lighting plans and specifications- Class designs a luminaire fixture that becomes a spec for their space
