Worked with a group of students on a Geographical Information System (GIS) based incident forecasting project which utilized collected GIS data to create mathematical incident prediction models using ArcView software, produced fire related incidents forecasts for specific areas of Victoria with the models, and made recommendations to the CFA to expand specific fire prevention methods in those areas.

Worked with another group of students and developed an absolute optical encoder technology by designing the analog interface for a CCD that was controlled by a DSP and custom FPGA, using circuit simulation tools such as SPICE to model and verify the functionality of the design, and utilizing circuit layout software to arrange the printed circuit board (PCB). After assembling, soldering, and debugging the hardware using an oscilloscope and logic analyzer the design was tested and found to worked well and was highly accurate.
