After leading the team which created the cycling strategy for Rijkswaterstaat, I am now the projectmanager for the implementation programme for cycling within Rijkswaterstaat.

I work in the WVL department of Rijkswaterstaat. This department serves as the brains for the Dutch agency for highways and waterworks.Within the agency I am the project manager for defining the new role of the agency on cycling. What chances does the game changer that is the E-bike for our sustainable mobility system of the future.Furthermore I am the theme coordinator for "Sustainability" within "Beter Benutten" (Optimizing Use) program of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment.The objective is to discover and create new synergy between sustainability and transport policy. I am part of the coordinating team of the European Era-net programme to bundle European research activities on transport. This programme aligns and sets up multinational transport programmes and increases their effectiveness.I am an expert on behavioural change, understanding where behaviour comes from, knowing when to intervene and knowing how to measure results. He regularly works for the Behavioral Insights Team of the ministry and train other colleagues in understanding behavior.

LEF is the future center of Rijkswaterstaat. Its approach to facilitation is unique as it combines brain research with the art of facilitation. This 'brain facilitation' consist of adapting the environment, the atmosphere and the nutrition to the requirements of a workshop. Rick works here as facilitator.

Rick worked as project leader for different national and (the dutch part of) international projects. He coordinated the dutch part of Civitas-Vanguard, concerning knowledge transfer on Sustainable Mobility within Europe. Furthermore he is responsible for implementation of Innovative projects for the urban last mile within the actionplan for growth in the rail sector. He advises on innovative mobility management projects.

Rick worked as facililitator within Agentschap NL and is a member of the core Moderation team within the Agency.He facilitates a wide variety of workshops- Strategic sessions according to the Logical Framework Analysis method- Team building sessions- International training workshops.- Creative sessions- Knowledge transfer, Expert debriefs, Succesfactor-workshops

Rick was project leader for the Dutch segment of three European mobility programmes. These are Link, concerning intermodal long distance passenger travel, Fleat, about greener fleet management and Civitas, to establish support programmes for cities in Europe to develop sustainable mobility policy.On a national level he advised on projects for the mobility management innovation programme. Additionally he was secretary of the alliance between different government actors in the field of mobilitymanagement (KPVV, DVS, SN, Transumo, CROW)

In this job Rick analysed Seamless mobility projects. further more he stimulated companies to create new initiatives regarding seamless mobility. His specialised area was the connection between (public) bikes and public transport. Furthermore he coordinated the communication efforts of the joint-venture between Senter and Novem called Move.
