Rick MacLeod Farley is a Development Economist of Irish and French-Canadian heritage. He has thirty-plus years of experience working with and for Indigenous communities in Canada and with Tribes in the US on community, tourism, and ecotourism development, including planning, financing, and project development support. His boutique firm, MacLeod Farley & Associates, has helped clients secure more than $67M in project funding to date.Rick has a Bachelor of Economics Honours degree and has studied towards a Masters in Rural Planning and Development. He served on the advisory board of The International Ecotourism Society (2010-2014) and is now a supporter of the Global Ecotourism Network. Rick is a regular speaker on Indigenous tourism project planning and financing at conferences in the US (Albuquerque, Anchorage, Green Bay, Hilton Head, Madison), across Canada (Vancouver, London, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, New Brunswick) and around the world (Brazil, Scotland). MacLeod Farley & Associates work with and for Indigenous communities and Tribes has stretched from the west coast (Alaska, Washington State, the Yukon) to the east coast (Labrador, New Brunswick), and from the Far North (James Bay and Nunavut) into the US (Akwesasne, New York). Rick and his team work very closely with client communities, assisting them in developing realistic and practical project plans and then often writing the funding applications to get them up and running successfully.
