Dept is an international digital agency with 1200 experienced thinkers & makers. As part of the Manchester back end development team I have worked on various projects for some well known clients including Triumph Motorcycles, Formula E and Jotun.Using .Net Core I have designed and developed a number of APIs to expose product data to customer facing websites utilising the latest .Net Core features such as built in dependency injection and named http clients. The APIs were designed using the OpenAPI specification with Swagger and Swashbuckle to create fully automated API documentation. I have also used NUnit to ensure a high level of unit test code coverage.In my latest projects I have been heavily involved in creating the CI/CD pipelines using Microsoft Azure, including the addition of a regression test suite that runs as part of the PR pipeline ensuring any breaking changes to the system are caught and resolved as early as possible. As part of this project I have also set up Azure WebJobs to run console apps and scripts in the same context as the API apps allowing you to trigger these processes by simply hitting an API endpoint. As well as Azure DevOps, we also have projects using Team City and Octopus.In addition to the above, I have also had experience of the Content Management Systems Tridion and SiteCore.

They specialise in all kinds of electrical equipment from specialist equipment for the caravanning and camping market, to home entertainment systems including televisions, Blu-Ray players and games consoles. They also have a highly successful tools website, www.BigRedToolbox.co.uk, which sells all kinds of tools and safety equipment.As part of the in-house software development team my role involves the development and maintenance of the system used to manage the business. This is a .NET Windows Forms application which handles everything required by the various teams including inventory management, marketplace management, customer orders, warehouse systems and accounting systems. The system connects to web services from Amazon and eBay to aid with the management of product listings and customer communications. The system also uses XML product data feeds to generate product descriptions and information used on the company websites and marketplaces.The company uses Visual Studio and MS SQL Server Management Studio for development. The development team utilises the Agile software development methodology, in particular, Scrum.

Work placement student. During my time at 3M my main role was 3rd line technical support for Siebel 8, a CRM software used by 3000+ users throughout Europe. This role included working with the DBA if we experienced performance issues to either rule out or resolve DB problems. This role enhanced my fault finding skills and my relationship building skills as I was communicating with many users every day. In addition to my support role I also designed and developed a support tool using C#/ASP.NET and SQL Server 2008, this tool automated tasks that were required to be performed on a daily basis. I was also the European Testing Coordinator for the latest Siebel release. For this role I had to ensure that testing was being performed at a suitable level by the many different European countries we worked with and that the development team were resolving any faults that had been reported before we went live with the new software.
