Rick McConnell leads the Central Coast, CA and Idaho divisions of MMT Insurance Services, A Gallagher Company. Over the last 19 years, Rick and his team have served the refuse & recycling industry by offering quality risk management services, counseling and insurance products, which help to impact the safety and profitability of their operations. Upon graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in Industrial Technology, with an emphasis on Industrial Safety in 1994, Rick began an insurance career with a National Insurance company, which specialized in select industries. During that tenure, Rick served in various capacities, including management and training of insurance brokers in 3 western states on consultative insurance sales, risk management and self-insured programs. Rick came to develop an expertise in the refuse and recycling industry, after bringing an exclusive program to California in 2001, which brought unique and creative coverage options to an industry that was experiencing increased costs, with little support from a safety and risk management perspective.After many years of working on a handshake, Mike Manit and Doug Trout joined Rick to formalize McConnell, Manit and Trout, Insurance Services (MMT). This partnership expanded our geographical footprint and appetite for specialized insurance and risk management programs tailored to heavy transportation related risks. Our team has remained committed to the refuse & recycling industry by continuing to offer unique and excusive products and participating in industry trade associations throughout the western states. MMT is pleased to now partner with Arthur J. Gallagher, the world’s 3rd largest broker and an early adopter of creative risk solutions that continues to challenge the traditional insurance marketplace.
