A 12-month project plan to upgrade the existing Token-Ring network to a Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Network (1000+ nodes). Migrated 29 workgroup servers to 12 IBM Netfinity Enterprise Class servers. Included email, medical business applications, host connectivity, thin-client applications, and print servers. Developed a migration process and utilized the current staff to re-distribute over 800 workstations throughout the Medical Center with no downtime for the end user. Created a centralized management scheme for all IT equipment utilizing Microsoft SMS, Cisco Works 2000, and SNMPc. Developed the software distribution process to remotely manage over 150 internal applications. Microsoft Professional Services was on-site to certify the SMS design and implementation. The methodology was referenced in some Microsoft white papers. The $2 million dollar project was completed on time and on budget. Completed the data center relocation RFP project for Houston Community College. Contracted through SBC to write a complete RFP to move 5 remote data centers in Houston to the new downtown location. Established relationships with all of the IT groups and developed a concise request for pricing that was distributed to many large integration companies throughout Texas. The RFP included Network equipment, Server equipment, relevant workstations, PBX equipment, and staff requests. Completed a network and server upgrade at Texas Women’s Hospital. Re-designed the current network to better suit a highly reliable organization. Included multiple buildings and remote sites. Re-engineered the current NOS (NetWare) structure for more efficient use of resources and better supportability. Reduced overall TCO by 10% after renegotiating licensing agreements with multiple software vendors.
