The JMS Burn Center is a 90-bed facility that offers top-tier burn care for adult and pediatric patients. It is the largest burn center in the USA, and the third largest in the world. There are fewer than 150 burn centers in the USA.– Provide clinical education for emergency departments, fire services, and EMS systems throughout the Southeast. Live audiences range from 10 to 300 participants. Self-perform instructional design (slide decks) for all courses. One of approximately 300 experts in the USA on this topic.– Coordinate emergency medical operations to treat patients on the accident scene, transport them to the hospital, and then them off to surgeons in the ER. After the event, work with hospital staff, public safety entities, patients and their families, and their employers on after-action reports to ensure quality care.– Also teach care for TENS / Stevens Johnson’s syndrome, necrotizing fasciitis, frostbite, PTSD, acute disarticulations (arm, foot – any body part torn away), electrical injuries, abusive injuries involving pediatric patients, skin disorders, and envenomation injuries.– Attend 10-12 conferences annually to learn best practices, understand competition, and network. Conferences include: The Georgia Trauma Commission, GAEMS, Alabama / Georgia Association of Workers Compensation Nurses, Trauma Association of South Carolina, JMS Burn Symposium, Georgia Leadership Conference, South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, and Georgia Academy of Physician Assistants.– Serve as one of three executive members of the Region 6 EMS Council for Georgia, which oversees 10 counties. – Assist in contract negotiations and surveys with hospital leadership, emergency agencies, law enforcement, American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, CARF, Joint Commission, and National Association of Emergency Medical Services.– Participate in community-wide mass casualty and disaster drills.
