Project Engineer

Cimco Refrigeration

CIMCO Refrigeration designs and builds refrigeration systems for industrial applications such as food plants, as well as recreational applications such as hockey arenas. In fact CIMCO Refrigeration has designed and installed its refrigeration systems in majority of the NHL facilities around North America. At CIMCO I hold the position of Project Engineer where I am responsible for designing the overall refrigeration system for various applications. This includes anything from sizing refrigerant/brine/water pipe lines, to sizing all the equipment used including compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, evaporative condensers and more. As well I produce numerous AutoCAD drawings including P&ID drawings, refrigeration room layout, piping layout drawings, etc. Finally once my engineering is complete, I am responsible for ordering all the equipment and materials and providing construction manuals to our construction crew so they are able to carry out the construction phase of the project on-site.

May 2011 - Jun 2014

Wms Project Coordinator

At Shoppers Drug Mart, I assisted in managing a construction project of a new distribution center in Cornwall, Ontario. Most of my time was spent in the office where I coordinated the project team. I managed the project schedule, project/resource budget and tracked the progress of all the specific tasks within the projects scope. I also spent some time in Cornwall, where I assisted with coordinating the construction which was falling behind schedule. In a short period I successfully managed to setup 2 training rooms within the distribution center, with numerous equipment (such as pc's, printers, etc.) that would be used for training new employees. In the process I had also discovered various electrical issues in the training rooms which I quickly addressed and had them fixed.

May 2010 - Aug 2010

Software Tools And Systems Project Coordinator

At Research in Motion, I coordinated the release and implementation of a new defect management tool company wide.Thousands of RIM employees (in Canada, U.S, and over Seas) needed to be trained to use this new tool, and this is exactly what I coordinated. From the Waterloo office, I scheduled training sessions, booked training rooms, managed catering, managed all the training session invitations, and trouble shot all technical issues. I did all this remotely from start to finish for each RIM location including, Waterloo, Ottawa, Halifax, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, Germany and many more locations. As well I also coordinated the travel schedules of our training consultants, and was the one who told them where they had to be and when based on the training sessions I had running.Overall it was a very satisfying work term. It was very challenging and I was fully involved in every little detail from start to finish. By the end of the work term, I had successfully coordinated training for thousands of RIM employees, with very few roadblocks in between.

Sep 2009 - Dec 2009

Engineering Design Student

At Messier Dowty I worked on two main projects. The first involved redesigning the main landing gear of the Bombardier Global Express Jet in order for them to support a heavier payload. Bombardier had modified the design of the jet, making it heavier, so they requested that Messier Dowty modifies the landing gear accordingly. For this project I used engineering calculations to calculate the new dimensions of the piston and cylinder of the main gear, and assisted in creating the design report for Bombardier with the new design details. The second large project I worked on was tracing down hundreds of improperly baked parts that were installed and flying on Hawker Business Jets. Working with a Hawker representative, i developed a "part tracking" spreadsheet which was used to track all the defective parts and link them to the aircraft they were installed on. This spreadsheet was then provided to Hawker, and the issue was quickly resolved.

Jan 2009 - May 2009

Junior Project Manager

At ATCO Power, I began my work term with evaluating 5 different bids from 5 construction companies. I compared the services each was offering vs. the price, and at the end I submitted a summary to upper management along with my recommendations for which bid was the better one to build a power plant in Northern Alberta.I was then flown to Fort Chipewyan in Northern Alberta where I spent the next 3 months managing the construction of this Power Plant. I managed the progress of the project, the resource budget, and managed a list of deficiencies (things that were not done well and needed to be fixed). As well during my time in Fort Chipewyan, I had the construction team teach me how to weld and operate large cranes which was a unique experience for me.
