Returned to Eaton Drives to handle Application Software Development for High Performance Drive Systems. Job evolved into being the “Go To” Drives Application Engineer for Eaton Worldwide. Working closely with Vacon R&D, wrote IEC61131 custom applications to allow a high performance motor drive to work in energy conversion applications.• Wrote first custom application for solar converter using VFD. Led to solar product line and patents.• Custom application to transfer energy from direct drive synchronous wind turbine to power grid. Commissioned first turbine only 8 months after concept.• Custom application for converter to charge and reclaim power from large zinc bromide battery. First production unit installed at technical college in Ireland.• Custom application for yacht shore power system.
