As the Global Chair, Dentons Hotels and Leisure Practice, I represent both developers, owners and operators of hotels and resort properties across six continents. Most of the properties I’m involved with are luxury and upper-upscale hotels and resorts. Many of the projects are mixed-use with a residential component and other amenities/uses. I represent clients with regard to their acquisition, development, financing and operation of these properties. I have negotiated management agreements for virtually every type of hotel & leisure product. I often advise clients on the acquisition of major hotel assets or hotel companies. I am often involved in negotiating joint ventures. I also have extensive experience dealing with distressed assets.I am also the Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Family Office Group / Global Private Services practice which provides cross-sector and cross-practice services to our ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their family offices (whether single family offices or multi-family offices). My extensive work over the past two decades with ultra-high-net-worth families and their family offices has expanded well beyond counseling them only as to the hospitality and leisure sector. I provide a broad range of advice to assist these individuals and their family offices across their for-profit and not-for-profit activities across the globe. I am also often involved in navigating complex KYC regulatory compliance matters for them while maintaining the integrity and security of their personal information. For decades I have been a frequent speaker at national and international hotel industry conferences. I am also actively involved in industry organizations and am a member of the Hospitality Roundtable of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA); a member of the Executive Planning Committee of NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference; a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Hotel Development Council; a former member of the program steering committee of ALIS; and a former member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC).Honors and Awards Section: Every year since 2007 (the first year this sector was ranked), I have received the "Band 1" national ranking - the best available - in the Leisure & Hospitality category of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
