Project: Implement smart meters within the support organisation of Alliander, the biggest energy grid company in the Netherlands, responsible for energy distribution in large areas of the Netherlands. Government decided that smart meters must be installed in all homes in the Netherlands per 1/1/2012 in case a traditional meter brakes down. This is part of the Small-scale Implementation (KSU) of smart meters in the Netherlands. This program is a prelude to the Large-scale Implementation which will start in 2014. From then on all meters will have to be exchanged for smart meters in bulk.Tasks:- Analyse current processes at Netcare for meter replacements- Make recommendations for the needed competencies and knowledge to timely meet the KSU requirements- Implement appropriate processes and controls for the introduction of smart meters- Organise training and instructions - Train and instruct technicians and other personnel on smart meters, and customer communications- Develop and implement an additional project to safeguard and improve processes in the chain Maintenance & Fault

As a result of accepting the overall plan delivered from the previous assignment the director of Unie Services, the work organisation of labour union De Unie, requested Rick to implement the plan. To do so he was asked to enter into employment for the duration of the program.Tasks:- Specify and connect the appropriate strategy with operations and information management- Improve, implement and communicate an updated strategy- Connect processes, information management, project management and corporate culture to the new strategy- Improve and manage the management team, together with the director- Advise management of Unie Services- Replace ICT systems (Oracle and Siebel to Microsoft Dynamics AX and Sharepoint, VMware, Netapp, Windows 7, Link and Windows Server 2008) to reduce costs and improve processes and procedures- Manage the ICT department (4 professionals)- Set up and manage programs and Information Management (including ICT)- Perform project and program management and make this approach work for resource management- Coach MT members and help management make a cultural and business change- Improve and professionalise management and operations- Train employees in Project management (Prince II), results-oriented control and use of new systems

Project: Labour union De Unie was faced with high ICT costs. The new director requested an analysis of problems and bottlenecks in business and information management. Changes were needed to cut costs and adapt to the new situation. Furthermore a plan needed to device a change of strategy.Tasks:- Analyse bottlenecks and other constraints in information management and business operations- Suggest improvements- Device a plan, including planning, costs calculations and resourcing- Determine the effect of changes in ICT and business- Determine and suggest needed methodologies to implement the changes

MIG was the department for Information Management (Management Information Group). With 43 professionals it provided services to all of Econcern Holding and its international subsidiaries on Process Management, Information Analysis, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Business Consulting, Data Management and Management Information. Project: Implement a different management style and professionalise the department.Tasks:- Lead the department.- Professionalise staff and services- Advise management of Econcern- Prepare for merging the departments Management Information Group and ICT- Make the department transferrable to a new Group Information Director to be appointed.

Project: Describe company-wide processes and optimize OneCarbon to improve effectiveness in managing Carbon Credit projects and trade (value certificates for trade in CO2 emissions according to the Kyoto Convention)Tasks:- Determine how CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) works- Determine how CER’s (Certified Emission Reduction units) are traded- Do interviews- Business process analysis and optimization proposals- Drafting RACI matrices- Give workshops with management to updated them and get support for the full process description (bottom up) and possible trade system- Deliver training on the methodology and processes- Determine the requirements for a trade system- Convert processes and information to a design for a system to support the process of negotiating and registering of Carbon Credits following the customised processes in Navision

Project: Divosa is an NGO for directors of social services. Divosa was in need of a comprehensive vision on the future of the social services in the year 2015. Input was needed from all stakeholders in social services. A new methodology was to be devised to incorporate all the different views from all parties involved.Tasks:- Draft and implement a methodology for the collection and structuring of different views on the future of the social sector in 2015- Run several workshops with stakeholders- Comprise the different visions of the CWI, UWV, BKWI, Divosa and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment together in one overview- Determine the impact on the Digital Client Dossier (DKD)- Advice preparations for the further development of the DKD until 2015- Coach and advise other policy advisors of UWV, CWI, BKWI and Divosa on the methodology.
