After studying Embedded Systems (M.Sc.) at the Delft University of Technology, I graduated on applying 'passive learning' to log data analysis at Adyen as part of the point-of-sale testing team. After graduating, I joined this team as a fulltime testing engineer, and I helped to scale the testing capacity as well as to increase test coverage in a maintainable way. Testing was done in an end-to-end fashion: using robots to perform physical payments on actual payment terminals connected with a test environment to simulate acquirer responses. To get acquainted with Adyen's other offerings and exposure to Adyen's customers (merchants), I transitioned into the role of implementation manager. In this role, I was responsible for supporting (usually newly onboarded) merchants on their technical integration with Adyen's platform as their main point of contact. This typically involved hosting technical kick-off meetings on-site, guiding engineering teams of the merchant (or their integration partner) on a daily basis, supporting go-lives, and troubleshooting; there was also a continuous feedback loop with various internal teams to keep improving the product. My specialisation as implementation manager was the solution for marketplaces/platforms, where the final integration comprised of onboarding sub-merchants, performing payments (both online and in-store), and initiating payouts. After almost five years, I transitioned into my current position, where I'm part of the team responsible for the solution for initiating payouts as a Java software engineer. In this position, I'm able to bring my practical experience (how merchants use the product) together with building new features and maintaining existing functionality.
