Pediatric CNS Gene Therapy

• DNA extraction of patients specimen for COVID-19 testing • Amplify DNA using qPCR and analyze data using Atila Program • Amplify DNA using ddPCR and analyze data using Droplet Reader• Accessioning individuals’ samples into 96 well-plates • Monitor test analyses and ensure test results are reported until all corrective actions have been taken• Regularly communicate with management, and support personnel in monitoring and resolving any issues that come up• Maintain order and cleanliness in the laboratory & Keep track of supplies

• Receive, track, log, homogenize, and transfer soil samples • DNA extraction of the soil samples• Quantification of DNA and logging data• Prepare Gel & load samples for Gel Electrophoresis • Aliquot primers and master mix for storage as well as help prepare master mix for PCR • Load samples into Miseq for DNA sequencing • Maintain order and cleanliness in the laboratory & keep track of supplies

Research is done under Dr. Rori Rohlfs' lab in the SFSU Biology Department• Purpose: Investigated and analyzed data on the presence of women programmers in Theoretical Population Biology journals• Gather historical bibliometric data manually, perform statistical analysis by R programming and help produce the manuscript outlining results. • Presented our project's poster at Population, Evolutionary, and Quantitative Genetics Conference and got a Special Recognition Award for Undergraduate Researchers.• Our manuscript "Illuminating women's hidden contribution to the foundation of theoretical population genetics" was published in Genetics Journal as a Perspectives piece (02/2019).
