Rick Hutcheson is a Wakka Wakka and proud Larrakia man, born and raised in Darwin NT. His creative career kicked off in his early 20’s, when he moved to Adelaide and began a Bachelor of Creative arts in Screen, at Flinders University. During this time, he was credited on various small projects and took on roles such as Production Designer, Camera Assistant, Gaffer and Script Writer. Rick was also passionate about comic book writing and had two stories published in DarkOZ (a local, indie horror comic/zine) in 2013. In the following years, Rick’s passion for screen media saw him undertake a Masters of Animation Production, where he majored in Project Management. Soon after, he took on the temporary roll of Social Media Manager for prominent media design school and in the following year held a Lecturer position at the University of South Australia for their University Preparatory Program, were he taught Games, Media and ICT. In the last 2 years, Rick has gained an attachment credit on the major SAFC production of ‘2076’ and has completed a First Nations Internship with local community TV station Channel 44. Most recently, Rick has co-produced and directed season 1 of his new talk show ‘Mob Talks’, which aired in 2022 on Channel 44 and is currently in production with season 2.
