As I have talked with sales, marketing and fundraising professionals about how to clone their best clients, the topic of “referrals” comes up over and over. I plan to use what I learn to help my clients, as well as to publish an article(s) here on LinkedIn. As a result, I’m looking for sales, marketing and fundraising professionals who would be willing to share their current success, as well as their frustrations regarding getting quality referrals. Although Simpson is located in Redding California, I worked independently out of my office in Albany Oregon to serve the interests of the university in the Pacific Northwest. I was the relationship manager for about 175 donors. My focus was on Planned Giving and developing Strategic Giving plans for donors.

Although the National Office of the C&MA is in Colorado Springs, I worked independently out of my office in Salem Oregon. I was responsible for church relations, Planned Giving and Major Donor solicitation in the Pacific Northwest, Central Pacific, South Pacific and Rocky Mountain Districts. I helped the governing boards and pastors of churches create a strategic plan to foster a "culture of generosity" in their local church. The primary vehicles I used to connect with potential donors were through networking/referrals and teaching Planned Giving seminars. During my time with the C&MA I raised $15.8MM in current and deferred gifts.
