About Rico Engelman

From my youth I have a broad interest in many exciting branches that are around. As my dad was very involved in Aerospace, I studied Flight Engineering, which study provided a broad background in the overall Aerospace industry, not only in the technical aspects, but also in legal, physical and psychological, and mainly operational, like meteo and navigation.Fokker Aircraft offered me the opportunity to do an internship and also finalize my study on a flight test program for the Fokker 100, after which I served in the Royal Netherlands Airforce (As Armament and Electronics Specialist). After that I started my career at Fokker, where I got the opportunity to grow into several roles, to eventually find out my strengths were in customer interaction, and commercial roles are the perfect fit for me. I have worked in Sales Roles for many years, and the last 4 years moved to Account Management with basically brought all my skills and ambitions together.My urge to understand new territories drove me into the railsector, where Honeywell had some interesting offerings, but didnt understand the market very well. Honeywell asked me to deepdive and develop the market on a global scale , which was a wonderful challenge that brought me to all corners of the world, initiating contacts with Ministries, National Railroad Companies, and Industrial Partners.My strong believe is that business succes is a direct result of the relationship with and trust of the customers. In the many challenges I was fortunate enough to be faced with, I have always enjoyed to explore new markets, analyze what drives customers in their spending behaviour, and help them fulfill their needs with my companies products and services. In the various markets I worked in (Aircraft OEM, Defense, Rail, and Aerospace Aftermarket), there were always challenges, but as often commercially viable solutions to mutually grow the business.
