About Rico J. Macaraeg

Hello, I'm Rico. I am a business leader with a diverse background in the military, fortune 1000 brands, and PE/VC backed high growth companies. I am passionate about bringing performance data and kick-ass brand strategies to life to drive growth and profitability by focusing on the stickiness and LTV of our customers.I have had the pleasure of holding various global CMO/Marketing Leader positions in the consumer goods, retail, and auto industries. While at ThriveDX I led a global marketing team of 100+ marketers managing DTC for over 20 various brands with ThriveDX. I was successful in driving CPL down by ~60% and CAC down by ~50% by implementing strategy, big data and customer-focused creative. During my time at Stojo, I scaled the business from 20 countries to almost 40 countries around the globe, leading Sales and marketing in the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific. In 2018, I joined the successful turnaround team of Lord & Taylor, a $1.5b multi-unit omni-channel department store in the US with P&L responsibility of $200m and an amazing team of 150+ FTEs and agency partners. My automotive experience lends a wide aperture from Customer Insights to Retail Marketing to overall Head of Marketing Roles. From 2014-2017 Rico served in the Audi & Lamborghini brands progressing at the Volkswagen Group of America headquarters in Herndon, VA.I have been honored to have spent a decade of service to the US government with the most previous role as the Northern Region Marketing and Public Relations Director for the Navy Exchange (Shopping center), a multi-unit retail/shopping complex for 4 years. Rico enlisted in the United States Navy in 2003 and quickly ascended through the ranks finishing his service in 2011 as a Second Class Petty Officer (E5).I have completed multiple tours to the Middle East, Africa, and Central and South America in austere environments abroad and have been awarded three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals.I earned my Master’s of Business Administration at The Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business, as well as a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Leadership from the National University of San Diego, CA.I currently reside in the New York City area and volunteer my time to help transitioning veterans into civilian life and people with unsecured housing (fighting to end homelessness) as well as speak and advise on a variety of topics around the world.
