I am an estimator. That is the best description for my job. I translate "requests for proposal" into an actionable plan, and build estimated quotes that will be used by the sales staff for their pitch to clients. I develop proposals and populate our event management system with all the relevant data extracted from the RFPs. Event location, equipment required, and the labor call necessary to mount the program. Do you want to have a circus in the front yard while a band plays by the pool in the back yard, and broadcast it all on live TV? I can tell you how much you should budget for!I "design" the presentation systems for programs and create the labor call to meet budget expectations as outlined in the client's RFP. This is often a collaborative process that includes creative team members and account managers as we analyze the programs, the venues, and the goals of the customer.I research the client's past programs and events and develop the baseline event costs for equipment allocations and labor. I'll factor in the cross rentals, build a day-to-day labor schedule, and plan the T&E for staff that will travel when needed.I thrive on the close cooperation and collaboration this job entails and I really enjoy delivering great experiences for our clients. Our team is focused and driven to excel. A happy, excited, and engaged audience is always a thrill for me! Your audience's enjoyment is my mission!

Audio Engineer, Recording Engineer, Producer & Tour Manager

Butthole Surfers & Various Artists

During my many years working as an Audio Engineer, I was the Production Manager and FOH audio engineer for many different artists. The Butthole Surfers is one of the bands I toured with extensively. Many tours of Europe, Australia, Japan, and of course about a million miles in North America. I recorded and co-produced two records with the Butthole Surfers: Hairway to Steven, and the limited edition live "self-bootleg" released in 1989. I have a discography that goes back to the mid-'80s. I produced or engineered around 100 "albums" for rock bands. I guarantee you've never heard of 98% of them, but I put my heart and mind into every single one of those projects! :)I helped the Surfers pioneer some live production techniques that are now used by every band worldwide. If you ever saw the Surfers perform live, you will know exactly what I mean. The audio company I was a part owner in at the time, Seismic Audio, Seattle WA, managed the sound and lights, and film projectors for Butthole Surfers tours of that era. Although the Surfers are the most infamous group I worked for as an audio engineer, there were many others I toured with as well. Far too many to list here. A broad sample of tours and one-off Live concert events would be, Roy Rogers to Smoky Robinson. Scatterbrain and Widespread Panic are another couple of bands I toured with. I've mixed thousands of live sets. In the latter years of my touring, I also often worked as a Tour Manager. Those opportunities allowed me to gain many additional skills. Managing budgets, running expenses, and developing good accounting practices, just to name a few. Those experiences account for much of the intense attention to detail I bring to all my work today.
