I choose Petroleum Engineering Major in year 1999 when Indonesia was just experiencing one of the worst economy crisis in year 1998 and attempted to revive the reformation stage. Oil Price was below US$ 20 back then with grim outlook for the oil and gas industry everywhere. But I was so confidence with my decision and enthusiastically passing all through the stages in college and graduated with Cum Laude Honor.I graduated in year 2003, and was enjoying the moment when the Industry was starting to thrive and experiencing one of the best period in the history. I see how the price climbing from Low US$ 20 to the area above US$ 100 and can see how dynamic the Industry from within.I joined Schlumberger IPM and was so fortunate to receive the world class training given and the experience of participating and contributing in many projects in many places in the world. Drilling wells in dessert of Oman, rocky mountain of Pakistan, Jungle of Sumatera Indonesia and even the legendary MPSV Well Services project in Abu Dhabi, Being challenged with so many various project in the world and the hunger of always learning something new in the Industry, I decided to join the Major E&P companies for the next stage of my career, to ensure the upgrade of knowledge by learning it from the best. Participating in the massive offshore and swamp drilling campaign for gas field in East Kalimantan with TOTAL, Natuna gas Project with Premier Oil, and also joining BP in Azerbaijan for the High Profile ACG oil field with the multiple ERD wells and be friendly troublesome green shales. The valuable experience was not only about drilling engineering practices, but also the Project Management Knowledge (with BP term - Beyond the Best), bringing the project through stages and ensuring it pass the gates with high quality deliverables.Most of the things in the world are cyclical, when the oil downturn arrive in year 2015 an opportunity came to me to Join Repsol ambitious exploration Project for entering the new play of Fractured Basement in Onshore South Sumatera Indonesia. The Fractured Basement is not something new, but the play itself is considered under explored in the area with so many potential for the future. One of my memorable achievement in my career was to be the Senior Drilling Engineer who prepare the program for drilling KBD-2X well drilling through the fractured basement formation and help to discover one of the best Discovery in Indonesia History for the last 20 years.
