Inspired by working at CMNH, I’ve dedicated my life to creating a healthy, prosperous world where all kids have access to the resources they need. Our foundational value at Pivot Point is to make the world a better place for generations to come. Our confidence is based in 30 years of accomplishments that include:• Built a startup from 5 to 20 employees and revenue from $300K to $2M in 3 years• Doubled revenue from $900,000 to $2M in a local non-profit division • Discovered unrecognized potential to grow accounts by 92% • Launched a new team that increased corporate support 40% from $3.3M to $4.6 in one year • Acquired 10 well-known brands as corporate partners; doubled department revenue to $7M• Recruited/coached executives on boards who had enormous impact on the non-profits servedOverall, I’ve raised over $66 million dollars for the American Heart Association and Children’s Miracle Network, leading peer-to-peer fundraising events, innovating point-of-sale relationships, launching a new ecommerce giving app and selling seven-figure national corporate partnerships. Here is what my former Chief Business Development Officer and a Corporate Partner said about my work:Steve O. – Chief Business Development Officer, Children Miracle Network Hospitals - https://www.linkedin.com/in/steveoshin/“Pete exudes integrity, honesty and trustworthiness. He shares his values and sense of purpose in an open and embracing fashion that helps others to join him on the journey.”Joey M. – Corporate CMN Partner and Senior Director, Corporate Communications, GameStop Corp.“The first thing I noticed about Peter was his honest and direct approach; asking thoughtful questions and creating an environment of possibility.”At Pivot Point, nothing gives greater satisfaction than partnering in growth. Oct 2020 - Present

Senior Vice President, New Business

Salt Lake City, Ut, Us

At CMN, I was hired to restart a true business development function from scratch. There was no pipeline, we needed to rebuild trust with hospital partners and the inherited team needed leadership.Over the last 4 years,• we secured 10+ well known brands as corporate partners; • took the division from $3M to $7M;• rebuilt trust in the new business function with our 170 hospital members; • launched a new ecommerce giving solution and company;• piloted CMN’s first B2B marketing campaign. There is nothing like raising funds for kids and their families dealing with the severe health issues. Peter Ries, Senior Vice President, New Partnerships

Jul 2016 - Oct 2020

National Director Of Business Development

Dallas, Texas, Us

National business development reported locally and was unfocused. I asked for the major change to lead the team nationally. After reforming the team, I travelled extensively coaching, selling a new collaborative vision to affiliate leadership and leading the adoption of the Sandler sales method. The team grew revenue from $3.3M to $4.6M securing 16 wins in the first year and a transformational 7-figure relationship with leading food service provider that included a significant commitment to changing their corporate food service menus to follow AHA nutritional guidelines.Peter Ries, National Director, Business Development

Oct 2013 - May 2016

Senior Director, Strategy And Planning

Dallas, Texas, Us

Due to my abilities to grow and service major accounts, I took on leading the corporate relations internal account services team that supported all activations of corporate partnerships. In addition to this responsibility, I added one of our top accounts, Subway, to my portfolio.Improvements in our activation systems and processes resulted in increased staff and partner satisfaction.During this time, I led a cross functional team competing to become one of five national causes chosen by Walgreens focused on national health goals. We applied our walking focused campaign and automated the in-store POS campaign growing revenue from $600 thousand to $5.8 millionThe innovation at Walgreens, growth at Ross Stores and renewal of Subway resulted in achieving 177% of goal. Since joining the national corporate relations team, I had raised over $38M with these and many other accounts. Peter Ries, Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning

Oct 2012 - Oct 2013

Senior Manager, National Accounts

Dallas, Texas, Us

I came to the team after successfully leading a local division as an Executive Director. I used these skills and my for-profit sales background to apply innovative peer-to-peer strategies and relationship building resulting in significant growth. United Healthcare was a new account I brought on after discovering that their state presidents really wanted a physical community presence showing their dedication to prevention and physical activity. UNH became the first health insurer to partner and fund the walking path program for $700K.Campbell Soup was planning to cut its funding of Go Red For Women after many years of support. Through developing a deep-rooted relationship we saved the relationship securing $600K in support.Ross Stores grew from $1M to $3M by recruiting an internal executive sponsor, setting aggressive goals and tying store manager growth to participation in AHA’s annual POS campaign.Anthem had been pursued without a win for five years before I arrived. Instead of pitching, I led a discovery team that asked pointed business questions around what was needed for success. From this discovery, we identified a program that met their needs and secured a 7-figure grant to launch the new hands-only CPR campaign. Peter Ries, Senior National Account Manager

Oct 2008 - Oct 2012

Affiliate Corporate Relations

Dallas, Texas, Us

I was the first person hired to test a new business development concept focused on securing national corporate relations with regional staff. At the same time, the AHA decided to make employee giving a new line of revenue nationally breaking away from the United Way and any Community Health Charities programs. To build the pipeline, I partnered with local metropolitan teams building event executive leadership committees to identify national corporate prospects. I trained the affiliate team seeking new employee giving prospects as well as leading its internal employee giving campaign.I secured a new $3 million women focused partnership with Supervalu. Exceeded $2 million and a 29% increase in employee giving revenue and led the inaugural affiliate employee giving campaign to 100% participation 2 years in a row.Peter Ries, Affiliate Corporate Relations

Jul 2007 - Oct 2008

Twin Cities Divisional Executive Director

Dallas, Texas, Us

The Twin Cities Division office was in need of rebuilding. An affiliate merger left the team demoralized and without leadership. The national office overseeing the division hired me to re-energize the team and build a robust base of executive volunteer leadership.Coming from the entrepreneurial for-profit world meant that I had much to learn as well as evaluating, coaching and developing my team. I spent time getting to know them, the operations, best practices, the board, event committees and the overall non-profit situation in the Twin Cities. It became evident that the team had developed a toxic culture and that new executive volunteers were needed for the divisional board and event committees. For the team, real-time coaching, setting clear expectations and adopting national best practices changed the game. An innovation I brought was recruiting for-profit mature sales people (e.g. pharmaceutical, services, real estate). This decreased turn-over and elevated fundraising outcomes as well as the executive volunteers recruited. I fully transitioned the board to high-level executives, set financial expectations and term limits. This attracted C-suite leadership from diverse industries to our events with whom succession plans were developed to sustain the events’ financial gains. The 4-year results - the Twin Cities moved up to the #4 position nationally for fundraising, doubling revenue from $900K to $2M. Board and event chairs grew in their engagement from division to affiliate and national board levels. We secured multiple-year 6-figure local sponsorships ahead of larger and more established markets.Peter Ries, Executive Director

Nov 2002 - Jul 2007

Vice President, National Sales

Arbita

I joined as the fifth employee of this startup during the Dotcom explosion. From our humble beginnings, I led all sales efforts as we grew from 2 to 10 salespeople resulting in revenue growth from $370K to $2.8MM over 3 years. The beauty of the startup experience was the breadth of work we all did together and nimbleness needed to survive. From closing a $600K deal with a California health Insurance provider to negotiating mezzanine round of funding to creating the marketing materials for trade shows. It was an innovation focused environment where we would make decisions quickly, test results and modify our approaches.
