Mr. Murphy serves as Financial Advisor for Right Brain Money, an independent fee-based firm that specializes in delivering clear and impartial comprehensive financial planning advice.Combining over 18 years of financial expertise with an entertaining and humorous style, Mr. Murphy has taught investment planning classes for CFP®® candidates at The Ohio State University, Metro State and for the College for Financial Planning. As president of the Arizona Institute for Financial Literacy, he led financial training events for many corporations across the state, including First Magnus Financial Corporation and the Arizona Academy of Real Estate.Since relocating to San Luis Obispo eight years ago, Shawn has worked with the San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department, City of Arroyo Grande, and most recently, San Luis Obispo Coastal Adult School. He wishes to bring high quality, unbiased financial education to the Central Coast. He believes that true retirement planning is so much more than investment selection, and that quality financial planning needs a far more comprehensive focus (e.g. income tax management, estate planning, debt management). As a multi-year volunteer for the San Luis Obispo SCORE chapter, Shawn has helped many new local businesses build and refine their plans and operations for greater success. In addition to an extensive financial background, Shawn has performed across the country as a professional actor. He graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a degree in theatre and has acted in many venues across the country. Locally, he has performed for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo Little Theatre, Pioneer Players, and The Spot in Arroyo Grande.When not working, you may find Shawn playing drums, singing, or traveling with his wife, Sky, and their two wonderful children, Nicole (seven), and Atlas (age three).
