Riham is currently the Director, Multilateral Co-Innovation Programs and International Relations at the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). She recently completed two Assistant Deputy Minister positions in her home province of Newfoundland and Labrador, as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Industry and Economic Development, as well as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Trade Policy.She has over ten years of international experience in government finance and international trade. Relocating back home to Newfoundland from London, UK in March 2023, Riham also worked at His Majesty's Treasury to set up an infrastructure-financing institution, the UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB). Riham also led the Infrastructure and Construction underwriting team in infrastructure financing at the British export credit agency, UK Export Finance, where her key clients were African sovereign governments, banks, and international enterprises.Prior to her work for the British Government, Riham worked in Canadian embassies on trade policy issues in several sectors including agriculture and food security, mining, forestry, at the Canadian High Commission in Canberra, Australia, and the Canadian Embassy in Denmark. Riham also worked as a consultant at Hickling Arthurs Low in Ottawa where she provided advice to the Canadian Government on agricultural trade policy issues.She holds a MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics where she focused on Canadian-US free trade agreements and a BA (Honours) in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland, where she won numerous awards for her academic performance.
